We are building a new layer of car rental.
Qber is a 100% Hungarian startup that uses technology and community-based solutions to make renting out and renting cars simpler. Our goal is to combine the convenience and technology of carsharing, the flexibility and attractive pricing of P2P car rental, and the decades of experience and legal predictability of traditional car rental — while replacing as many manual processes as possible with modern solutions.
Most privately owned cars spend a significant part of their time parked, while continuously generating costs for their owners.
Renting the car out could be an obvious solution, but in-person handovers, key management, scheduling and administration create too much hassle for many owners.
Our aim is to make it possible for a privately owned car to be managed with technology similar to carsharing services, while the owner remains fully in control of the vehicle.
We are not building our own fleet. The future of mobility does not necessarily mean more cars, but smarter, more efficient and more sustainable use of the vehicles that already exist.
Getting more value from what already exists.
For the lessor
Creating an opportunity for an underused car to generate passive income, while technology reduces the need for in-person involvement and administration.
For the renter
Over time, a growing supply can create more choice, greater flexibility and more affordable rental opportunities.
For the environment
Making better use of vehicles that already exist may help reduce the need to maintain a separate privately owned car for occasional mobility needs.
Qber can offer an alternative for people who need a car — just not necessarily every day.
Do you work from home and only use a car a few times a week?
Do you mostly use public transport on weekdays?
Do you only need a car for shopping, family activities or longer trips?
Do you travel by motorcycle or bicycle for most of the year and only need a car during the winter months?
Would you rather not maintain a car all year if you only use it occasionally?
Is your car being serviced and you need a flexible, cost-effective temporary solution?
Have you sold your car, but your new one has not arrived yet and you need a temporary solution?
Do you live abroad but plan to spend some time in Hungary and need a car?
What happens if, as the supply of rental cars grows, the cost of renting gets closer to the cost of owning and maintaining a car?
As more cars become available for rent, supply may increase and price competition may become stronger. Over time, this could create a price level at which occasional car rental becomes a genuine alternative for some users to owning and maintaining a private car.
At the same time, Qber's passive-income-oriented system can support continued growth on the supply side, because renting out a vehicle no longer needs to require significant additional labour or time from owners.
